General Skills and Sword Skills[]

Technically the General Skills on this article are not Sword Skills. Sword skills are techniques that are a subset of Weapon Skills (which is a type of General Skill that takes a skill slot). As a result, shouldn't we aim to eventually split this page and create a General Skills page?

Also, we should add another section that explains/list Sword Skills in ALO. ALO has a reduced number of Sword Skills than SAO, and we should make that distinction.

It also wouldn't hurt to math the Skills in Alicization with the SAO Sword Skills in another third section. Zxqwerxz (talk) 17:46, November 1, 2012 (UTC)

I'm surprised that no one has replied to this but the Talk section seems rather obsolete in this wiki from what I've seen with even Kirito's Talk page recieving little attention... Either way, I feel that the above should definitely be done. If I could get some authorization, I would start on it, but I'm generally afraid of making any extensive edits here because of the welcome note I recieved telling me that the admins "don't like vandalism even if it's accidental." --Junky (talk) 18:23, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
Well there isn't much need to create a new page, I mean there isn't much information about other skills, but if it really bothers you I would say it would be better to just rename th page. Also yes, people don't pay attention to talk pages, if you want permission to do something ask an admin (probably dim) on their wall.

Just thought that I should mention that the page was recently split into two articles, one for General Skills and one for Sword Skills, so this problem is solved. Gsimenas (talk) 22:02, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

Beginner skill slots[]

I was reading the Light Novel (Volume 8, Chapter 3) and it is stated that a character at Level 1 only has 2 available Skill Slots. Is this data revelant enough to add? 1caiser (talk) 20:20, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

Hmmm... and I was pretty sure that it was mentioned somewhere. Anyway, added that part and rewrote the sentence to make it more clear why Kirito is used as an example. --Gsimenas (talk) 20:41, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

Probably missed it then. I found it now. Thanks. 1caiser (talk) 21:57, July 31, 2013 (UTC)

Starry Tear or Neutron?[]

On the Original Sword Skill page, there is a 5-hit OSS created by Asuna named "Starry Tear". However, on the Sword Skills page, there is a 5-hit Sword Skill from New ALO under One-handed Rapier named "Neutron". Is this a discrepancy in the wikia? 1caiser (talk) 03:46, August 26, 2013 (UTC)

Caliber: “No……oooooo!” While my spirit screamed sharply, a blue gale ran past from my right side. The rapier held in its right hand released five consecutive thrusts at a speed so high our eyes couldn’t see it. It was the high ranking extreme speed thin sword skill «Neutron». With the damage properties of twenty percent physical and eighty percent holy, the remaining HP of the gold Minotaur, who was readying itself to swing its axe, was silently robbed.

Mother's Rosario: Rather than uselessly trying to run and getting hit in the back, it'd be better to gamble on a small chance. Asuna put all her energy into her right hand and once again activated a sword skill. The only five-hit OSS which she had successfully compiled, named «Starry Tear». Red and blue flashes interlocked. Going from Asuna's right shoulder to her bottom-left, the tip of Yuuki's sword intersected with her previous hits and made a cross. However, Asuna's rapier finally hit Absolute Sword. Drawing the apex of a small star, the five-hit thrust skill pierced the black armor. They finished exchanging five hits, and there was a moment of silence. Neither of them had fallen.

Starry Tear is confirmed as an OSS, while Neutron seems to be a regular Sword Skill. --Gsimenas (talk) 05:06, August 26, 2013 (UTC)

Simply put, both are legit skills under different category (one is OSS, one is SS). So it's not a discrepancy. Ethrundr (Local Talkpage) 05:09, August 26, 2013 (UTC)

Official names or just guesses?[]

It says "Equipment Appraisal" gives you the information "of a piece of equipment." And that "Tools Appraisal" gives you that same information for a weapon. Are these actually what they are called? If one is only for weapons, why isn't it called "weapons appraisal?" Is this information just guessing based on what was seen in the manga and the light novels, or is it listed somewhere official, or in one of the actual games? Dream Focus 02:26, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

Some random guy inserted those descriptions, so yes, they are just guesses. Also, can't you read the big bolded notice to use the forum? -_- Gsimenas (talk) 04:50, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
If its about this particular page, it should be discussed here, since others will have the same question and look to the talk page. Easy to find things this way. Dream Focus 10:16, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
When a forum thread is assigned a topic, it appears under the article that it is about anyways. However, forum posts are easier to keep track of and are less messy. Gsimenas (talk) 10:20, May 23, 2014 (UTC)
