The «Monument of Swordsmen» (剣士の碑(けんし ひ), Kenshi no Hi?) is a large stone tablet on the 1st Floor of «New Aincrad» in the «Black Iron Palace». The Monument of Swordsmen replaced the Monument of Life in the original Aincrad.

Appearance[]

The Monument of Swordsmen is a black, long and large monument located in the center of a large room.[1]

Description[]

The monument lists the names of players who helped to defeat the Floor Bosses of New Aincrad. When a raid group consisting of more than just one party kills the boss, only the names of the leaders of each party have their name embedded into the stone. However, if a single party was to take on the challenge and prove successful, each party member would have their name engraved in the stone. Only seven names at most can be engraved on the stone for each floor.[2]

Chronology[]

Mother's Rosario[]

This monument was introduced when Yuuki and the «Sleeping Knights» desperately wanted to leave their names on the monument so that everyone would know that they had once existed. Asuna played a major role in helping the group achieve their goal by helping them strategy-wise and support-wise in their battle against the 27th Floor Boss. After defeating the boss, the names of the Sleeping Knights members and Asuna were added to the list of clearers of the 27th Floor. Later, Kirito's and Yuuki's names, as well as the names of the leaders of several other parties, were added to the clearers of the 28th Floor. The names of the Sleeping Knights and Asuna were again added to the list after defeating the boss of the 29th Floor on their own.
