Hello there. I've noticed that you've just created an article for mining. While we appreciate your effort, this wiki has a minimum content requirement for new articles. A new article must have at least 2 paragraphs of decent content or 1 paragraph of decent content + a picture for illustration to be allowed on the wiki. Any topic that does not have enough relevant content does not deserve its own article. Thank you for your understanding.
Information about game mechanics is of course interesting, but your article was barely even on topic. You made an article about a skill, but mostly talked about a specific forging example. And what was on topic was mostly general stuff. As such, it should be covered somewhere else or more content should be found before an article is made.
thank you for your edit to the Skills page. You referenced your edit, which we highly appreciate. Though please make yourself acquainted with the Reference Guideline. You added unnamed references for an already existing named reference, which undermines the purpose of a named reference.
References to specific pages should be avoided. There are various versions of the novels (the official Japanese version, Yen Press's official English translation, various official translations to other languages, and various fantranslation PDFs), each with its own page numbering system. That's why we reference chapters for clarity instead.
If there is only one official English translation version published, and this wikia is only in English, I don't think it'd be a problem. Do they have other English versions out there where the page numbering is different?
There is a problem. Yen Press's translation is still an adaptation and thus isn't too reliable. They're just as liable to make mistakes in translation as any other (even experienced) translator. So, the only actually reliable reference is the original text. That's what I personally check for reference when in doubt. I could start adding page numbers of the Japanese version to the references on the wiki, but that would only confuse the English readers. Even more so because not everyone even reads the Yen Press version. Some people instead read the fan translation, especially for the volumes that do not have an official translation yet. We've already had at least one case where some user tried to reference the page numbers of a fan translation PDF.
So, for clarity's sake (as well as to avoid making the references too long and case specific), we instead reference the chapter/part. That's usually specific enough to find the information that's being referenced and it then doesn't really matter which version of the story you're reading.
Hi, welcome to Sword Art Online Wiki! Thanks for your edit to the Talk:Skills page.
Please leave me a message if you need anything
To get started either British English or American English are fine on this wikia but do not change one for the other redundantly. Only official content from sources like the Anime, Light Novel and manga are allowed on this wikia. Please try to reference any facts otherwise they may be removed for being considered speculation.
