Breaking the Damage Limit (ダメージの限界突破, Damēji no Genkai Toppa?) is an event bonus short story written by Kawahara Reki. It was released in October, 2012 as part of a Dengeki Story Trading Card featuring Asuna for the Dengeki Bunko Trounce! Breaking Limits!! Fair (電撃文庫ぶっちぎり!限界突破!!フェア, Dengeki Bunko Bucchigiri! Genkai Toppa!! Fea?), a Dengeki Bunko event held between August 10, 2012 and October 31, 2012.[1] This card was one of the Dengeki Story Trading Cards on the event's lineup, each of which featured an original story for the represented franchise based on the event's theme of breaking limits.[1] One random card from the lineup could be obtained by purchasing at least one Dengeki Bunko or Dengeki Bunko Comics label product marked with a special event wraparound band (obi) from stores participating in the event during the even period.[1] More franchises were added to the lineup each month during the event period, SAO being added to the lineup in October.[1]
The story is set in Sword Art Online during the Aincrad Arc and features a brief discussion between Asuna and Kirito on the topic of breaking limits.
Plot[]
While discussing with Asuna whether Sword Art Online had a damage cap, considering that traditional Role Playing Games (RPGs) usually limited the maximum damage output of any single attack to 9,999 damage points, Kirito began to list a number of different methods to increase the amount of damage that could be dealt at once with the help of numerous players. However, when Asuna asked about her role in that plan, Kirito responded that her help would not be needed. Asuna then stepped on his fifth toe and made him feel as if he had suffered 99,999 points of damage.
